NFL Betting Primer New Orleans Saints @ San Francisco 49ers (-9| O/U: 43)

The San Francisco 49ers play of late has warranted conversation of them being the best team in the NFC. Their recent throttling of the Cardinals on Monday Night Football was impressive, and the spread in this game is warranted. The 49ers breadth of offensive talent is almost indefensible. The Saints’ defense is respectable, but no team can wholly shut down San Fran at their best.

That being said, the 49ers have historically underwhelmed in this situation. Look no further than Week 10, a home game versus the Chargers in which San Fran eked out a victory in the fourth quarter. In fact, when Jimmy Garoppolo starts at QB, the 49ers are 6-13-1 ATS as a favorite at Levi’s Stadium. We zoom in even further, and note that the team is 1-8-1 ATS when favored by more than six points in this scenario. But are the Saints a team capable of covering on the West Coast?

The Saints have yet to cover on the road this year, and starter Andy Dalton is 3-11-1 ATS in his last eleven road starts. Dalton and the Saints’ offense played well last week, but such a performance is hardly transferable. Further, it is hard to forget the team’s most recent outing on the road. The Saints fell 20-10 to Pittsburgh in Week 10, a game in which the team failed to score in the second half, and the offense mustered fewer than 200 yards of total offense. The Niners’ defense is markedly better than the Pittsburgh’s, and a similarly uninspiring performance may be in store for the Saints and QB Andy Dalton.

Something’s gotta give. Will San Francisco’s Home woes continue, or will Dalton and the Saints continue their futility on the Road? To find out how The Premium is betting this game, and for the rest of tonight's Best Bets, click the link here and use promo code JURGENS to save 25% on a VIP package
