NFL Matchup Preview Tennessee Titans @ Philadelphia Eagles (-4.5 | O/U: 44)
The Philadelphia Eagles welcome the Tennessee Titans in one of Week 13’s marquee games. This line has been bet off of PHI -6.5 at open, and nearly 80% of wagers placed on the Spread have been in backing of Tennessee.
Tennessee’s advantage on the ground has been discussed ad nauseam. Tennessee’s top-rated run defense should be able to neutralize the Eagles ground game, and the team’s offense should be able to dictate pace with All-Pro RB Derrick Henry. Because of this perceived edge, the inclination to back the Titans here is natural-- however, there is more nuance to this matchup.
Philadelphia anticipates the return of rookie DT Jordan Davis, and his presence should solve many of the Eagles issues in defending the run. Additionally, the stature of the Titans’ run offense may be overblown due to Henry’s distinction as one of the NFL’s best RBs. Tennessee is at their best when running the ball, but they don’t do so with great efficiency (27th in the NFL in EPA / Rush). If the team cannot keep ahead of the sticks, QB Ryan Tannehill will have to carry the load in an unanticipated way.
With that said, the Titans’ defense will frustrate the Eagles diverse ground attack, and Tennessee has historically thrived in such circumstances. As the Head Coach of the Titans, Mike Vrabel is:
24-15 ATS as an Underdog
15-9 ATS as a Road Underdog
12-5 ATS as a Road Underdog of more than 3 points
Good luck to those who have bet against Tennessee in this spot. The team is well renowned as one of the best when less is expected of them, and have made keen bettors a lot of money as an underdog.
Still, the question remains-- Is there still value on the Titans here? Or are the Eagles too good to pass on at this number? To find out how The Premium is betting this game, and for the rest of tonight's Best Bets, click the link here and use promo code JURGENS to save 25% on a VIP package
